Ain't No Sunshine

Description

I was planning to post this painting after I post my (supposed to be) first piece of the year which is 'APH Vietnam: Year of the Rooster' but then I realized that this is the most appropriate time to publicize it and decided to do it instead.
This piece was inspired a photo on Twitter which shows a sunflower garden covered in thick layers of snow. It just hit me like a ton of brick and begged me to do a Meronia drawing related to this theme. And to be honest, coming up with the idea for this painting is way easier than executing it. Those withered sunflowers are such a pain to draw but they are also the part which I'm proud of the most. And if you haven't noticed, Mello is one those dead flowers or those flowers are the symbol for him and his death. I feel cold just looking at this illustration.
And the song of the painting is "Ain't No Sunshine" from Bill Withers covered by Passenger:
"Ain't no sunshine when he's gone
It's not warm when he's away
Ain't no sunshine when he's gone
And he's always gone too long
Anytime he goes away
Wonder this time where he's gone..."
This song just fits perfectly with the theme I was going with.
Anyway, I have a REDBUBBLE account now: www.redbubble.com/people/delil… I haven't posted much work on it but I hope you can go check it out, follow me or actually buy some of the stuffs I got there. Anything would be much appreciated>v<
I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do. Have a great day everyone>v<
Death Note, Mello, Near belong to Ohba Tsugumi and Obata Takeshi>v<

Not only this is beautiful it hits me pretty hard as well… I need more breaks from your gallery again

I have always imagined the symbol flower for Mello will be sunflowers and always wanted to draw them in a sunflower field full of sunshine smiling brightly.

But an idea like this has never crossed my mind once
